6 day Chimps & the Big Four

This safari takes you to the most beautiful national parks in Uganda. A pleasant combination of the dense forest of Kibale National Park, the savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park and the clear lakes in Lake Mburo National Park.

Day 1: Entebbe - Kibale Forest National Park. Approx. 370km/5hrs drive
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Park on a morning flight, we will depart Kampala and head west to Fort Portal. On your way look out for black-and-white colobus monkeys as many of these primates are hiding in trees along the road. Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon and famous for the many tea plantations. From this lovely town we will continue to Kibale National Park for a stay within the tropical forest.
Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale (L-D)

Day 2: Chimp trekking & Crater Lakes area
Today the forest opens its doors for a sensational chimp tracking. Kibale Forest is reputable of having the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. Enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild chimpanzee, red-tailed monkey, black-and-white colobus monkey and many others.
After a hearty lunch we will go for a drive through the Crater Lakes area. Enjoy the hundred of small clear lakes, surrounded by gentle hills and watch the daily African life in the villages. You can go for a walk around Lake Nkuruba for another meeting with different species of primates and many colourful birds.
Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale (B-L-D)

Day 3: Kibale Forest – Queen Elizabeth National Park. Approx. 185km/3hrs drive
In the morning transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. It is a beautiful route via Kasese, with the Rwenzori Mountains on your right side and the green valley on the left. A game drive on our way to the accommodation in the middle of the national park gives us the chance to spot waterbucks, warthogs and other wildlife.
Dinner and overnight at Elephant Plains Lodge (B-L-D)

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National Park
The day begins early as we start with a morning game drive and head to the mating ground of the Uganda Kobs. We search for the lions, elephants, buffaloes and other wild animals in their natural habitat before returning for lunch. In the afternoon we take on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural channel between Lake Edward and Lake George. Thanks to the abundant birdlife that is sighted, and the elephants, buffaloes and hundreds of hippos that are cooling off at the shores, this cruise will definitely be one of the highlights of your safari.
Dinner and overnight at Elephant Plains Lodge (B-L-D)

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Lake Mburo National Park. Approx. 4-5 hours
After breakfast you will enjoy a hike in the Kyambura Wildlife Reserve. Driving through a grassland area, all of a sudden we come across an amazing gorge of one hundred meters deep, covered with tropical rain forest. You will hike into the gorge of the Kyambura River in search of the wild chimpanzees. It is a beautiful walk through river valley, home to many primates, birds and butterfly species.
Afterwards we leave Queen Elizabeth National Park and head towards Lake Mburo National Park. As we enter the park we will make an evening game drive which enables us to spot impalas, topis, warthogs, zebras and buffaloes.

About Our Reviews

Our reviews are Fully Qualified

We do not take reviews from unqualified sources

Since 1996 we have been working with the best tour operators in Africa. Our unique relationship with those operators ensures only people who have participated in a trip after making an enquiry for it at AfricaGuide.com can leave a review.

The email we send you when you make an enquiry has full instructions for registering a booking and leaving a review - both are free services.

Feel free to read through the reviews for any trip you like the look of.

Trips with no reviews are usually new to AfricaGuide.com but are normally operated by a tour operator who is established here and has gained operator reviews for you to read.

Thanks for visiting, happy travels and don't forget to send us your reviews...

About our trip providers and reviews

Our Trip Providers

We carry out extensive company checks on all our providers, over 20 years we have built strong personal relationships with each of them, which assures you of an unparalleled service, great value and the trip of a lifetime.
We have participated in many of the trips found here (we have a nice job) and make our own independent assessments of the services provided, ensuring they meet with our own high standards.

All the trips are supplied by the end provider of that trip.
You may find the same or similar trips elsewhere, usually these are offered by an agent.
We prefer to give you direct access to the trip provider for reasons outlined below:

  1. Best price.
The price you see here is the direct trip price set by the provider, the same price as purchasing directly with them (which is how it works), there are no added commissions.
This means you are not paying an agents commission and the provider is receiving their fully budgeted trip cost.
(agents can demand discounts from providers as well as adding commissions to the providers trip price)
  2. Easy customisation.
By booking directly with the end provider, making changes is quick and easy.
  3. Fast problem solving.
On the rare occasion that an issue may arise before or during your trip, by dealing directly with the end provider, problem solving is quick and efficient.
  4. Helping Africa help itself.
The most straightforward way to assist the economic opportunities and conditions for local people across Africa, is by direct financial interaction with people in Africa. In a nutshell "Tourism".
This kind of direct tourism gives opportunity to local people.

We limit the number of providers we work with in order to strike a balance between a good choice of trips and to be sure we can honestly recommend the service and validity of each provider.
Because the majority of trips can be customised by the providers, the choice of trip configurations is in the tens of thousands.

Our Reviews

We have 3,000+ reviews for our trips and providers.
All our reviews are fully qualified, we do not take unqualified reviews.
We show all reviews, the good and the critical (very few). Our providers have the ability to respond to reviews and those responses are shown alongside the review.
Acquiring genuine reviews is actually very hard, for our genuine travellers we make this an easy process but many people although satisfied with the service they received do not leave a review.

Many reviews on the internet can be left by an open process with little or no checks.
At best unqualified reviews are worthless, at worst they are misleading. We never take unqualified reviews.

We hope you find a trip to your liking and we are here to assist.

Wishing you happy travels...
