Located in: South Africa - Hermanus
It may be best known for its championship golf course, rated among the top five in the country, but the Arabella Western Cape Hotel and Spa offers much more than 18-holes in a spectacular setting.
A short drive from Hermanus, South Africa’s whale watching capital and home to the best land-based whale watching in the world, the 145-room crescent-shaped resort hotel looks out over the Botriver Lagoon, which forms the eastern coastal border of the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve and is the largest natural lagoon in South Africa.
The unique luxury resort, acclaimed as a leisure destination, is also considered to be one of the Western Cape’s premier event and conference facilities.
Conferences, board meetings, team building functions, product launches and social events are arranged with consummate professionalism and catered for in a variety of luxurious, easily configurable venues, all architecturally designed to harness natural light and allow the beauty of the environment to lend a unique ambience to professional and social engagements.
The Arabella Spa and Wellness Centre, voted as one of the ‘100 best Spas of the World’ provides the full gamut of relaxation and beauty therapies from around the world.
Other activities include horse riding, mountain biking, quad biking, canoeing or a visit to the nearby penguin breeding colony. Of course a firm favourite between June and December is whale watching from the Old Harbour in Hermanus, where Southern Right Whales frolic in the clear water just off the rocks.
Guests have a choice of fine dining in the award-winning Première Restaurant or the Jamani Restaurant, offering contemporary cuisine and the option of eating outside on the terrace. Alternatively they may prefer the relaxed atmosphere of the Laguna Lounge.
Bars include the Laughing Waters Pool Bar at the swimming pool, Barnabas Bar or the sophisticated Cristobal’s Cigar Bar.
