Day 1: Nairobi – Lake Nakuru
The adventure starts with a pick up from your Nairobi Hotel at 0800hrs then depart for Nakuru, stopping at the Rift Valley Viewpoint arriving in time for lunch. After lunch proceed for a game-drive within Lake Nakuru National Park to view flamingos, other water birds and various species of plains game with excellent chances for spotting the white rhino as the Park contains a Sanctuary for the Conservation of this rare animal which is an endangered species. Dinner and overnight is at the Campsite/Budget Hotel.

Day 2: Lake Nakuru – Samburu
After breakfast depart for Samburu Game Reserve for dinner and overnight at the Campsite, via the Thompson Falls and Nanyuki town for lunch, game drive enroute. Samburu is a journey of about 220 miles north of Nairobi in Kenya’s arid, northern scrub lands. This tiny Park is only 64 square miles but in its boundaries is the best game viewing the northern part of the Country has to offer. Here you will see species you won’t see anywhere else and yes, they are uniformly beautiful. They comprise of the reticulated giraffe and the grevy’s zebra which seems to merge to a uniform grey color from a distance and is easily distinguished from its burchell’s (common) zebra cousin. One of our favorites is the gerenuk, the gracefully long-necked “giraffe” antelope, who’s perfectly capable of stretching full height on his hind legs to snatch an acacia morsel. That strikingly marked huge antelope, beisa oryx, lives here as well, as do a notable elephant herd.
Dinner and overnight is at the Campsite.

Day 3: Samburu
Breakfast is followed by morning and afternoon game drives in Samburu with a lunch and leisure break at the Campsite. Samburu is north of the equator with most of the rare species of game here being drought resistant and can which go for long periods of time without water. It is also the home of the blue-shanked Somali ostrich among others. In the late afternoon (at an extra cost), go for optional activities like having a nature walk, visiting Samburu villages to see the nomadic lifestyle or swimming in the nearby lodges. Rest of meals and overnight is at a the campsite.

Day 4: Samburu – Nairobi
Early morning pre-breakfast game drive. After breakfast depart for Nairobi with lunch enroute. In clear weather the peak of Mount Kenya may be seen and you will by-pass very pleasant countryside with coffee and tea plantations. Arrive in the evening.

About Our Reviews

Our reviews are Fully Qualified

We do not take reviews from unqualified sources

Since 1996 we have been working with the best tour operators in Africa. Our unique relationship with those operators ensures only people who have participated in a trip after making an enquiry for it at AfricaGuide.com can leave a review.

The email we send you when you make an enquiry has full instructions for registering a booking and leaving a review - both are free services.

Feel free to read through the reviews for any trip you like the look of.

Trips with no reviews are usually new to AfricaGuide.com but are normally operated by a tour operator who is established here and has gained operator reviews for you to read.

Thanks for visiting, happy travels and don't forget to send us your reviews...

About our trip providers and reviews

Our Trip Providers

We carry out extensive company checks on all our providers, over 20 years we have built strong personal relationships with each of them, which assures you of an unparalleled service, great value and the trip of a lifetime.
We have participated in many of the trips found here (we have a nice job) and make our own independent assessments of the services provided, ensuring they meet with our own high standards.

All the trips are supplied by the end provider of that trip.
You may find the same or similar trips elsewhere, usually these are offered by an agent.
We prefer to give you direct access to the trip provider for reasons outlined below:

  1. Best price.
The price you see here is the direct trip price set by the provider, the same price as purchasing directly with them (which is how it works), there are no added commissions.
This means you are not paying an agents commission and the provider is receiving their fully budgeted trip cost.
(agents can demand discounts from providers as well as adding commissions to the providers trip price)
  2. Easy customisation.
By booking directly with the end provider, making changes is quick and easy.
  3. Fast problem solving.
On the rare occasion that an issue may arise before or during your trip, by dealing directly with the end provider, problem solving is quick and efficient.
  4. Helping Africa help itself.
The most straightforward way to assist the economic opportunities and conditions for local people across Africa, is by direct financial interaction with people in Africa. In a nutshell "Tourism".
This kind of direct tourism gives opportunity to local people.

We limit the number of providers we work with in order to strike a balance between a good choice of trips and to be sure we can honestly recommend the service and validity of each provider.
Because the majority of trips can be customised by the providers, the choice of trip configurations is in the tens of thousands.

Our Reviews

We have 3,000+ reviews for our trips and providers.
All our reviews are fully qualified, we do not take unqualified reviews.
We show all reviews, the good and the critical (very few). Our providers have the ability to respond to reviews and those responses are shown alongside the review.
Acquiring genuine reviews is actually very hard, for our genuine travellers we make this an easy process but many people although satisfied with the service they received do not leave a review.

Many reviews on the internet can be left by an open process with little or no checks.
At best unqualified reviews are worthless, at worst they are misleading. We never take unqualified reviews.

We hope you find a trip to your liking and we are here to assist.

Wishing you happy travels...
