Comment: Our l6 day Safari was a wonderful experience.

Accomadations were excellent and the food great. We had two very good guides that were most knowledgeable about the animals and birds. The both went beyond the call to please us. We have lots of wonderful pictures and memories.

We are telling all our friends about Africa and hope to return.

Comment: Everything was wonderful.

The tour operator did everything they promised and more.

Our accommodations were wonderful and our driver/guide in Kenya was great...he was kind, knowledgeable, and we felt well taken care of.

We all agreed that we received excellent value for the cost of our trip and I would absolutely recommend this operator and would definitely use them again on any trips to that region of the world.

Comment: We had a wonderful trip to Africa and I can't say enough good things about Serah!

We planned our trip very last minute and she really jumped through hoops to get us
a great itinerary and into all of the accommodations that we wanted. The camp in Amboseli was a highlight of the trip, beautiful accommodations, exquisite common areas, great food and service.

We also thought the camp in Samburu was wonderful, we loved our treehouse tent, very private and the food there was probably the best of the trip. Surprisingly, the camp in the Mara, is not nearly as good. they try though with the service... It just not as well laid out. the tents are not as private, the restaurant is not as charming and the food wasvery hit or miss at dinner.

We also spent one night in Nakuru which was fine, the game very easy to see and one night at Sweetwater's, which was just ok ( I wouldn't reccomend it.)

We loved our driver, George, he was courteous, professional and informative. He was always cheerful and easygoing which made the travelling between parks nice as some of the drives were a little long.

We were with him on all drives except in the Masai Mara, which we flew to from Samburu (which I highly reccomend to save time.) The guides at the camp in the Mara were wonderful, but we missed our George!

All in all it was a great trip. we saw a lot of game, especially since it wasn't during migration but we also didn;t see a lot of tourists. I would reccomend this operator to anyone going over to East Africa. Serah is a real professional and I trust her implicitly.

The only part of our trip that I wouldn't do again is go to Zanzibar. Ras Nungwi is a very overrated and overpriced resort, especially since it't supposed to be one of the best if not the best on the island.

The Serena Inn, on the other hand, was lovely.... but Stonetown is very run down and unattractive and not the preserved architectural wonder that the guidebooks say it is..
The bottom line is that Zanzibar is very overpriced for what you get. For the amount of money it cost to go there, I bet the coast of Mombassa or Lamu would offer better options for people that want a beach excursion after a safari....and of course there is always the Seychelles.

Anyhow, if you have any questions or need anything further, please let me know...
Please send Serah my regards, I will contact her and send her some photos soon!!!

Comment: I would be honored to provide you with a summarizing paragraph about our vacation. It was the best experience of my life.

We have just returned from the most incredible vacation ever. The two of us are real animal enthusiasts and decided to visit Kenya and Tanzania for a spring holiday. We set up our safari out of Nairobi over the internet. This proved to be a very good move.

Serah helped to set our travels up and she made sure that we got to see all the sights that we inquired about. She was tireless in her correspondence with me, for several months we tweaked the itinerary to incorporate all the main east African highlights.

Our guides in both countries were friendly and informative, and helped to make this adventure so memorable. We were comfortably immersed in the wildlife and culture of Africa. Every day was a wondrous new experience that allowed us to see all the wildlife and vistas I had read about since childhood.

The people of Africa are wonderful hosts and everything was so perfect. I only wish I could afford to go back every year. For the rest of my life I do not expect to visit such an incredible place, it was the experience of a lifetime.

Comment: Zoe and I had an outstanding trip to Africa. The tour operator made all the arrangements for a safari which included Amboseli in Kenya and Lake Manyara, the Serengeti, Olduvai and Ngorongoro in Tanzania. Every aspect of the trip was marvelous.

There was a minibus for the two of us in Kenya and a jeep in Tanzania. We had a knowledgeable and friendly driver (Michael) in Kenay and another knowledgeable and friendly driver from Leopard Tours (Mtake) in Tanzania. All the lodges and tents we stayed in were remarkable. Due to the relatively late planning of the trip, we ended up spending Christmas Eve at Migration Camp. It was a really long drive, but surprisingly turned out to be the highlight.

Everything on the trip went very smoothly. The tour operator was completely professional and quite patient in answering all my questions by email beforehand. And she took care of small arrangements which we really appreciated, such as being met at Nairobi airport when we arrived at 10:30 PM and being escorted a few days later through passport control
into Tanzania.

All in all, it was a fantastic adventure. Africa was great. The people were great. The animals were great. And I would highly recommend this operator.

Comment: Hello Africa Guide - We did just complete a safari with which I found thru your excellent website.

From the very first reply to my enquiry Serah was warm, welcoming and the soul of efficiency. I cannot tell you how many, many questions we asked all of which were answered promptly and with extreme patience.

And her recommendations were bang on - like leaving the Masaai Mara for last, since that would leave more time for the migrating wildebeest to get there. Thanks to her, and the patience and skill of her driver/guide Julius, I now have video of a wildebeest crossing that would do National Geographic proud.

All her arrangements went like clockwork. From our arduous Kili climb to the safari in Tanzania and Kenya there were absolutely no hitches. People met us at airports. The hotels and lodges were superb, and all our drivers skilled and knowledgable. Having a few spare days after our safari ended we asked Serah to arrange a little R&R on Zanzibar. This she did, at short notice, booking us into 2 fabulous resorts - a wonderful end to a glorious holiday.

I would not hesitate to recommend your website, and Serah to anyone wishing to holiday in East Africa.

Comment: We found your website when we were looking for a map of Africa on It was extremely easy to use and we received emails from prospective tour companies the next day.

We decided to sign up for the longest tour of Kenya and Tanzania. I have never bought or ordered anything online and was a bit nervous but Serah from the safari company was able to provide references and the Africa Guide Web Site was also able to provide references for the company. Being an active couple we were worried that there was not enough activity planned in the itinerary but Serah created a new itinerary and emailed it to us the very next day.

Once we arrived in Nairobi, Micheal was there to pick us up and deliver us to their office. My husband and I had an amazing time on our safari. The accommadations were great, the food and service was excellent and the wildlife was unbelievable. We were able to see all the animals including the black rhino, which is very difficult to find, in our 15 day trip. My favorite was the giraffes, especially on Crescent Island near Lake Naivasha, and my husband's favorite was the Leopards, especially in Maasai Mara where we found a leopard protecting his meal.

I would recommend this trip to anyone.

Comment: Everything went well, they are a reliable agent with whom communication was swift. They arranged a Kenya Safari for us covering three different parks (Lake Nakuru, Sweetwaters and Samburu Nat. Park).

We were very satisfied with the accommodations, the driver/guide, vehicle and the many animals we saw. In perspective, we would have perhaps added one more day to our safari to enable us more game viewing (particularly at Lake Nakuru Park).

Overall all was good and we appreciate Mr. Boaz' effort and dedication in putting this safari together for us. I will call you him to thank him for this.

Thanks again for your interest and for The Africa Guide continuing to be a reliable partner in directing customers to professional travel agents around the continent.

Should we decide on future trips to Africa (very likely) we will contact you again for guidance and help.

Comment: Communication with them was fluid, they were accommodating to our requests and put together a complex trip for us (private Safari, including Arusha and Zanzibar). Their tour operator in Tanzania was professional and reliable, offered very good service during our trip. The guide/driver assigned to our group (Edwin Ntuku) was very knowledgeable and provided excellent service during our Safari. We had a wonderful trip.

We would like to thank The Africa Guide team for offering us this operators as a reliable and professional tour operator for our recent trip to Tanzania (June 2015)

That was also our honeymoon trip and our guide made it very special and memorable for us. The guide was extremely polite and flexible with our timing. The camps that were offered to us also contributed to our best possible experience. They were clean, welcoming, and supplied with great food.

Comment: I am very happy to give a glowing reference, we had a wonderful time.

Our guide Michael was 1st class, friendly, knowledgeable and made my wish come true to see Hippo's. I had made my wishes known to to the operator beforehand that it was a priority to see Hippo's, however this was not included in the itinerary. Michael to the rescue! he juggled our time of departure and our meal times and fitted in in between transfer from one location to another.

For that reason I would give the company 9 out of ten. And a big fat ten to Michael, thank you so much you made our trip.

The location of our accommodation were all very different , with different experiences in each location, all in all it was well planned and I would definitely do it again, and would not hesitate to recommend,

Comment: As an overall response I must say that our tour was extremely rewarding and that the services provided by the operator were excellent - until the last day.

Our guide was both knowledgeable and skillful. He was particularly considerate of our ages and physical limitations. Our respect for the beauty of Kenya and the friendliness of its citizens has increased beyond description. Despite the depressing poverty that we saw I admire the positive attitude of the people.

The only negative was our last day and that was a very disappointing and costly one. Our itinerary was for us to return to Nairobi after an early morning game drive and to overnight at the same hotel in which we had begun the safari. But then it was suggested that we consider changing the plan to stay in the Maasai Mara instead. The idea was to afford us additional opportunities to view the wildlife. Both hotels are part of the same chain. However, the operator said that because we had booked the Nairobi hotel through a US agent she couldn't help so we dealt with the Sarova Mara Tented Camp ourselves. With the amount of business given to the Sarova chain by the operator it seems that they should have pushed harder. In addition to paying a hefty premium for the reservation change that was made and for an added day of safari we found out, after the fact, that we had to pay an additional day's park fees. All that we got in return was a short morning safari ride. We didn't even get the promised "early morning game drive" on our day that we returned to Nairobi.

Comment: I am happy to provide some feed back on our recent safari and indeed the whole experience from initial enquiry to being escorted to the airport for our return to the UK.

Our initial was answered promptly and courteously with suggestions for suitable safaris taking into account our particular circumstances such as advancing years etc.
The standard safari that we chose was then 'fine tuned' to suit our individual travel arrangements, with accommodation in Nairobi, travel to and from the airport, and additional visits arranged and then presented as a complete personal package.

All these arrangements and any enquiries we susequently had were dealt with personally by a single representitive, who came to meet us in Nairobi before we commenced our safari.

The actual safari experience and the Lodges chosen for us were beyond fault, all made the more pleasurable by the friendliness and in depth knowledge of our guide.

We were met at Nairobi airport by our guide who stayed with us throughout our visit until he finally escorted us back to the airport.

We travelled in a 6 seat, 4 wheel drive 'mini-bus' with lifting roof (which was always clean inside and out every morning) all to ourselves.

Although we visited 4 of Kenya's reserves, our guide found the 'Big Five' for us in the first two, well before we visited the Maasi Mara.

All in all a most memorable holiday and I would not hesitate to recommend the operator for arranging personalised safaris.

Comment: On behalf of myself and my family I would like to thank, Ben and all the staff for creating our excellent customised Kenyan safari holiday which exceeded all expectations.

Our itinerary was initially conceived through internet research and as a result of TV wildlife documentary viewing. As such many of our requests were, on the face of it seemingly impractical but through the knowledge and pragmatism of the staff a sensible and feasible itinerary was put together which exactly matched our needs.

I found it very easy to communicate with staffwith all Email requests being answered the same or next working day. I was initially apprehensive at having to send a not inconsiderable sum of money to a company on another continent with which I have had no previous dealings with but prompt confirmation of all payments and subsequent full delivery of all promised services (and much more) I can confirm the absolute reliability and professionalism of your company. Indeed shortly after arranging our itinerary and paying the deposit, European flight restrictions created by the erupting Icelandic volcano became a potential problem but the operator was able to reassure me by offering a guarantee of alternative later-date arrangements or refund should we be prevented from flying out to Kenya.

All arrangements/bookings went smoothly without mishap and when the Samburu “floods” effectively closed down the majority of lodges in that area your timely intervention ensured we had alternate accommodation which still allowed us to fully experience the Samburu/Buffalo Springs area.

The accommodation suggested was of a consistently high standard and our only grievance was that Nakuru Sarova Lion Hill Lodge did not have accommodation for our driver who having spent a long and tiring day driving then had to make the wearisome drive back into Nakuru to find himself a room for that night.

Last, but certainly not least, we would like to express our great appreciation for and admiration of our driver/guide Mr Ben Gitari. I specifically mentioned that I would appreciate a guide who had good knowledge of Kenyan birdlife and so it was our great fortune to receive Ben as our guide. Ben’s knowledge of Kenyan Natural History is extensive and his field skills are considerable. We repeatedly found ourselves in the right place at the right time! We witnessed four separate Mara river crossings during our 4 night stay in the Mara including one massive crossing involving a never-ending herd of Wildebeeste, huge Crocs and carnage exceeding anything we have previously seen on wildlife documentaries! The “big five” we saw many times over including numerous lions at Samburu, Buffalo Springs, Nakuru and the Mara. We saw a total of five different leopards -at Mount Kenya (2), Samburu, Buffalo Springs and Nakuru. We saw Black Rhino at Sweetwaters, Nakuru and a mother and calf in the southern Mara; whilst elephant and buffalo were frequent at most of our venues. The wealth of supporting cast was also extensive with highlights being Spotted Hyena, Cheetah, Kudu, Beisa Oryx, Eland, Hunter’s Hartebeeste, Gerenuk, Grevy’s Zebra and grazing hippos on the lawn outside our room at Baringo.
Though this was a vehicle-based safari the birds were also numerous and spectacular with too many to mention though the raptors (especially the Verreaux’s Eagles), bustards, flamingo and nesting waterbirds at Baringo (during a fantastic and highly recommended boat trip) particularly spring to mind.

Most of what we saw was down to the skills and experience of Ben. His expertise does not however end with wildlife viewing and birdwatching as he clearly has a considerable knowledge of the people and the land itself whilst also holding expert driving skills. Furthermore he is humorous and affable company with a wide repertoire of entertaining stories, anecdotes and experiences all of which helped to ease the burden of some of our longer journeys. Finally, Ben was clearly widely known and respected by fellow-guides being one of the more senior figures in the East African Safari circuit.

Based on our experience of the professionalism, organisational ability and integrity of the operator and the quality and competence of their guides, we have no reservation in thoroughly recommending this company to anyone contemplating an East African vacation; be it a few days reprieve from a beach-holiday or an extensive all-embracing multi-centre safari.

Comment: We've just returned from our custom safari we put together with the help of this operator.

It was the trip of a lifetime! Siema was very helpful. He answered all our questions as we made the arragements and even met us of the day we were picked up in Nairobi for a trip to Lake Nakuru and then on to the Masa Mara.

Our driver and guide, David, has over 15 years of experience and was very knowledgeable. We are a family of 5 with 3 teenagers and David made it fun and interesting for them as well. From the transportation, to the lodging, to the game drives we had a perfect trip!

I would recommend them to anyone planning an African Safari!

Comment: Our experience was excellent. Bernard, who handled the planning and booking of the trip, was superb. I must mention specifically that the responses to my queries were most prompt and precise to the point. There was never any evasion of any issue and each query was replied to in specific terms.

On arrival in Nairobi, though we had to face a cancellation of flight service and re-scheduling, we were met promptly and taken to our overnight hotel. The tour commencement briefing that Siema gave us was precise and clear and all formalities were completed promptly.

Ben Gitari, our guide and driver, was excellent and most courteous and prompt throughout. Ben gave us loads of information, enthusiastically tracked wild life and made our trip most worthwhile and excellent without any hitch or scope for regret whatsoever.

All in all, my wife, daughter and myself enjoyed our trip and we all commend the care and attention that we received all through from Bernard, Siema and Ben Gitari

Comment: My wife, daughter and I had the adventure of a lifetime in only one short week, thanks to the planning and arrangements made by the operator.

They worked with us patiently over the Internet to tailor the itinerary so that it accommodated our dreams of what an African safari should be, while fitting it into our travel and budget constraints.

Our driver/guide was very knowledgeable, pleasant, drove safely and became our trusted friend. The Masai Mara safari was magnificent! We saw the "Big Five" in their natural environment, and came home with some awesome pictures. We went on to see the pink flamingos at Lake Nakuru, and walked amidst giraffes and zebras on Crescent Island. The accommodations were all first-rate and safe.

We highly recommend them.

About our trip providers and reviews

Our Trip Providers

We carry out extensive company checks on all our providers, over 20 years we have built strong personal relationships with each of them, which assures you of an unparalleled service, great value and the trip of a lifetime.
We have participated in many of the trips found here (we have a nice job) and make our own independent assessments of the services provided, ensuring they meet with our own high standards.

All the trips are supplied by the end provider of that trip.
You may find the same or similar trips elsewhere, usually these are offered by an agent.
We prefer to give you direct access to the trip provider for reasons outlined below:

  1. Best price.
The price you see here is the direct trip price set by the provider, the same price as purchasing directly with them (which is how it works), there are no added commissions.
This means you are not paying an agents commission and the provider is receiving their fully budgeted trip cost.
(agents can demand discounts from providers as well as adding commissions to the providers trip price)
  2. Easy customisation.
By booking directly with the end provider, making changes is quick and easy.
  3. Fast problem solving.
On the rare occasion that an issue may arise before or during your trip, by dealing directly with the end provider, problem solving is quick and efficient.
  4. Helping Africa help itself.
The most straightforward way to assist the economic opportunities and conditions for local people across Africa, is by direct financial interaction with people in Africa. In a nutshell "Tourism".
This kind of direct tourism gives opportunity to local people.

We limit the number of providers we work with in order to strike a balance between a good choice of trips and to be sure we can honestly recommend the service and validity of each provider.
Because the majority of trips can be customised by the providers, the choice of trip configurations is in the tens of thousands.

Our Reviews

We have 3,000+ reviews for our trips and providers.
All our reviews are fully qualified, we do not take unqualified reviews.
We show all reviews, the good and the critical (very few). Our providers have the ability to respond to reviews and those responses are shown alongside the review.
Acquiring genuine reviews is actually very hard, for our genuine travellers we make this an easy process but many people although satisfied with the service they received do not leave a review.

Many reviews on the internet can be left by an open process with little or no checks.
At best unqualified reviews are worthless, at worst they are misleading. We never take unqualified reviews.

We hope you find a trip to your liking and we are here to assist.

Wishing you happy travels...
