Kruger to Cape Town Including Victoria Falls - (21 Days)
This tour covers the major highlights of South Africa. It travels the entire east coast of South Africa, from a private safari in the Kruger Park to a breathtaking view from the top of Table Mountain in Cape Town, as well as one of the seven wonders of the world, Victoria Falls.
Day 1
the tour begins with a packaged trip to Victoria Falls for three nights. It Includes flights to and from Johannesburg and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe (which has the best views of the falls). This section of the trip will be the only section of the trip that is not guided but works on a voucher system. Your flights, accommodation (B&B), transfers, a sunset cruise on the Zambezi along with two other activities are all included. All other meals and activities are not included.
Day 4
our guide will collect you from Johannesburg International Airport and we will make our way towards Mpumalanga], where we take in the Panorama Route. This route is home to some amazing scenery, like God’s Window and The Pinnacle. We also visit the area’s attractions like the historic gold rush village of Pilgrims Rest, and spend the night overlooking the escarpment in Graskop.
Day 5
we make our way down into the Lowveld, home to the Kruger National Park. We will be spending the next three nights here. Two in the private sector and one in the public sector. We have done it like this for several reasons. Firstly, the private sector offers a lot more privacy and your chances of viewing endangered species is much better, as the vehicles are all linked and controlled by radio. The vehicles will leave the road for special sightings. You also get the opportunity to experience game walks in the private area, which puts the African Bush into a whole new perspective. The public sector allows you to appreciate the shear size of the park, and the large number of game to be seen around each bend.
Day 8
sees us leaving the Kruger area and begin our trip south. We travel through Swaziland (so check if you need a VISA), and back into South Africa where we stop at Pongola Private Game Reserve, located in the north of KwaZulu-Natal. Pongola is home to four of the Big 5 (all except Lion), and lies on the banks of the Pongola dam. We will experience a “game cruise” on the dam, as we enjoy the magical scenery. We will spend two nights here at this great lodge and this will allow you time to relax and enjoy the great Spa the lodge offers. (Spa treatments are no included in the tour price)
Day 10
after a great breakfast and a last game drive, we head inland and venture deep into Zululand. Here we will spend two nights in a town called Dundee. Due to this towns location you have a choice of activities to choose from. If you would like to learn more out the history of South Africa you may be interested in taking in some of our Battlefields. The two most popular one are Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift make famous my the Movie Zulu, and Zulu Dawn. Both battles are Anglo Zulu war and in fact happened on the same day. Isandlwana is where the British received their biggest defeat against a native force and then Rorke’s Drift just a few hours latter was such a great victory that 11 Victorian crosses were issued making it one of the highest if not the highest number of crosses issued in a single battle.
If history and battles is not your thing they lets venture into rural Zululand to meet the Zulu people and learn more about their customs and traditions. This is not a staged cultural experience and you will get first hand experience in what Zulu life used to be like as well as modern day life. If you are lucky enough you may have an opportunity to buy some authentic Zulu artefacts to keep as a souvenir. While we drive around Zululand you will be amazed but the natural beauty of the area.
Day 12
we head for the Drakensberg Mountains and spend that night at the base of the escarpment. We will venture up the Sani Pass and into Lesotho to visit a village and learn a little about the Lesotho people. The pass is a 4x4 pass and climbs an incredible height in a relatively short distance. As you climb up the escarpment you will be rewarded with some incredible natural beauty and you will come to understand why Lesotho is known as the "Kingdom in the Sky”.
Day 13,
we enter the Eastern Cape, and travel through the northern section which use to be called the Transkei. This area is full of rugged natural beauty and we will spend the night in a great guest house located right on the beach just before East London. This guest house makes you feel that you are on a island as no matter which window you look out of you have great views of the beach, which is rated as one of the best in SA.
Day 14 & 15,
we embark on the world famous Garden Route. Our first two nights on the route will be spent at the Tsitsikamma Nature reserve on the coast. This reserve is just outside Knysna and is home to South Africa’s ]highest Bungee jumping platform. If the idea of jumping off the Storm River Bridge is not your idea of fun, we can spend the day visiting the many attractions in and around Knysna. Some “must does” are a visit to one of the area’s Oyster farms as well as a visit to the Knysna heads, two large formations at the mouth of the Knysna lagoon.
Day 16 & 17
we continue towards Cape Town and spend the next two nights in Wilderness, where we will visit one of the areas Ostrich Farms, the Cango caves and much more.
Day 18
we enter Cape Town otherwise known as the Mother City. We will spend the next three nights here. Some of the highlights include a visit to the top of Table Mountain by cable-car, Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, the winelands, and the V&A Waterfront.
day 21
