What to bring.
It is advisable to bring light bush coloured clothing for during the day but always have something warm available for the evenings, especially in our winters (June to September). A light jacket and long pants for the evenings are however recommended, more so for protection against mosquito bites than insulation. During the summer months the area can experience thunderstorms so a raincoat is advised. Swimming costumes are a must, especially during our summer months. A good sun hat (wide brim recommended), is a definite must. A high factor sunscreen/ sunblock is advised for all times of the year. Other important items to bring along are your sunglasses, comfortable walking shoes, insect repellent (most establishments provide repellents) and all personal toiletries. Comfortable walking shoes are also handy.
Binoculars, cameras and video equipment is always good to have, however most establishments carry binoculars on their game vehicles and we carry a good pair in our vehicle, so don't stress if you don't have a pair of your own. Make sure you have all the necessary chargers/batteries and lots of film as some locations do not have well equipped shops, should you forget! A good flash light is also a good piece of equipment to have.
Malaria
The Kruger area is a malaria area so it is advisable to take the necessary precautions, however, it is usually cheaper to buy them once in the country, if you have a day to spare in a town/city where there is a good chemist - they are much cheaper here in South Africa.
