Trip: Great Tour - 5 days, 4 nights Safari in Tanzania
Rating: rating 5/5
Comment: It was fantastic safari!

Our driver/guide Huruma is an experienced guide and we saw at least 10 lions, cheetahs, leopard, 50 or more hippos, hundrets of elephants, zebras lots of giraffes and 5 black rhinos, one leopard eating his prey and later crossing the road just in front of our Toyota 4 Runner. We took over 2000 exeptional pictures!

We had very good cook ( Aboo ). He prepared for us fantastic breakfasts, lunches and suppers. We were camping and it was very rewarding experience. We organized our tour with Mwanaid, 26 years old female tourist consultant from Arusha. She booked our hotel and return bus tickets from Arusha to Mombasa, Kenya.

Great people, highly recommended!!!

Comment: "My trip was nice and a memorable one.

The people i met were very friendly, helpful and co-operative, i was given a very warm welcome right from the airport. Shadrack Masinde was really a big help in a totally new place.

The camel safari was well aranged too and the Samburu guides made it all the more interesting.

I however have one suggestion to make to you. Maralal is a pretty inaccessible place and reaching there in public transport is very difficult. If arrangements could be made by the form in terms of providing their own vehicles to and from Nairobi, it would be more comfortable for tourists.

that is all i'd like to say. once again thank you for a lovely and memorable trip."

Trip Operators Response:

Thank you for the client's feedback and we are glad that he enjoyed the trip despite finding the transport difficult from Nairobi to Maralal and we appreciate his constructive comments,

As stated when the client made his booking, the itinerary does NOT include transfer from Nairobi to Maralal. We offer a complimentary public transport.

However, we will improve this part of the itinerary by giving clients two transfer options with private transport and with complimentary public transport.

Comment: We took the Northern Circuit of Tanzania tour. We had a great two weeks. The accommodations were comfortable and the food was good. Our vehicle, a Toyota Landcruiser, had a roof which lifted up so that we could view the animals easily and safely. Our driver/guide drove carefully and always made sure to ask us if we were ready to move on.

We had requested a guide who knew the birds and we had an excellent one. He also had several reference books on the animals and birds which we were welcome to look at. Besides knowing his birds, he was great at finding animals. We were the first vehicle to arrive at a sighting several times. Often he would have to explain in detail just where the animal was before we were able to see it because it was so well camouflaged. He gave us lots of time to really view the animals.

Besides the Big Five and large herds of zebra, wildebeest, buffalo. impala, Thompson's and Grant's gazellles we saw many of the other mammals as well, such as water buck, bush buck, reed buck, eland, topi, jackals, serval cat, African wild cat, mongooses, rock and tree hyrax and, of course, baboons, vervet monkeys, blue monkeys and Colobus monkeys. It was an amazing trip and really lived up to our expectations.

We would recommend it to anyone.

Comment: My wife and I have recently returned from a 17-day photo safari.

We enjoyed our stays at the Rufiji River Camp, Lake Manze Lodge, and the Ruaha River Lodge. We were treated hospitably by our guide, Fikiri. He was very concerned about our welfare and did his best to be sure that we saw as much game as possible and positioned us so that we had the best photo ops.

The many excellent photos we have are proof of the value of this trip. He was also very considerate in making sure that we were doing what we wanted to do,when we wanted to do so.

Anyone planning a similar safari would do well by using this safari company.

Comment: We had an absolutely fantastic trip , it was organised superbly from start to finish.

On safari, our guides were knowledgeable and enthusiastic - they also spoke extremely good English which was great for us. The lodges that we stayed in were incredibly luxurious and the food was delicious.

We also stayed in Zanzibar after our safari which was equally well organised. The resort, literally was right on the beach and the atmosphere was really relaxing. We had the option of going snorkelling, diving or simply sunbathing and drinking cocktails in the pool bar! Amazing!

I would truly recommend the operator to anybody.
The planning was really thorough and they were great value for money as well.

Comment: I used these company off Africa Guide list to do a 6 day Kilimanjaro Machame route Hike
Booking was very easy, and they made a point to reply all my emails. The rate was within my limits.

For a small Company I give this Guys thumbs up. The Tour agent and My Guide for The Kilimanjaro Hike where good folks. They Got to to my Hotels 2hrs before I checked in .( Took a Bus from Mombasa and got delayed en route.

Again the Guide- Mr Wilson was on time to pick me up on the day of Hike.

I did the Machame route, a party of One, and I should say I got the Best of the Mountain, my schedule was very flexible, thus I summited a day earlier. Monday-Thursday. All the crew were there for me I can say. Food was good and plenty.

I would recommend this Tour company to any one out there. I live in Texas.

Comment: Our Safari through Tanzania was an enjoyable & memorable experience.

The service provided was very good. Our tour leader, Partson could find a needle in a haystack & found animals for us that we sometimes had to use binoculars to first see & he did this whilst driving the 4 wheel vehicle at the same time.

Our days in the field lasted 8-9 hours a day & we were picked up punctually each day. We were able to photograph animals at very close range.

Comment: I resently got back from a 6-day hike up the Machame-route to the summit of Kilimanjaro. I travelled during the late rain-season which beforehand was my greatest worry, but fortunately the rain was moderat, and towards the summit the weather was dry and great.

If you look for a hike without the great masses of tourists I would recommend april-may, but the weather can be a bit unpredictable. I booked my travel through a company directed to me by the Africa Guide. Equipment and staff were all great. Experienced guide, decent food and the tent kept me dry during nights.

For my next trip to Africa I will not hesitate to use the services of the Africa Guide.

Comment: My husband and I enjoyed our trip through the National Parks in northern Tanzania. Each park was unique and provided a wonderful opportunity to view wildlife.

Our guide, Apollo, was very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly.

The arrangements appeared to have been well planned. Everything was perfect. The abundance of wildlife was spectacular.

Again, thank you for making this trip so enjoyable.

Comment: We have just returned home from our African trip, it was wonderful.

Our guide - Potsoon - was so kind and knowledgable. He really helped us enjoy what Africa in the Arusha area was all about. He was willing and able to change the itinerary slightly to accommodate our desires to see and do different things. We appreciated the effort that the operator made to make our visit comfortable and economical.

We look forward to returning to Africa someday, and would considerusing them again.

Comment: The trip was exellent. Not even a problem. What's more the company reacted very quick and positive to change plans avoiding Kenia demonstrations, without any extra charges for all of us. That's a great detail in long and expensive trips.

Regarding the organization of the treks. Amayzing, both guides, for Mount kenya and Kilimanjaro were excellent, food and timetable. We were always the first, avoiding the crowd, this way we enjoyed the enviroment like being alone!

Hotel stays in Tanzania, excellent Impala hotel. Parkside hotel in Nairobi, not that good but comfortable.

To end with, I will like to encourage you all to visit Tanzania and Kenia with this operator as they will organise you everything and take care of you all time if surrounding problems come by.

Comment: We had a fantastic safari in northern Tanzania, thanks to the excellent guide and organizational service provided by the operator.

Our guide, Huruma, was extremely knowledgeable about mammals and especially birds, which was an added (and unexpected) bonus, as I am a bird-lover as well. Huruma was patient, witty and very friendly, and went out of his way to take us to places where he thought we could see special birds. Our cook Abu made highly varied, delicious vegetarian meals, which was also a surprise.

The only thing that was not easy about the experience was paying - we forwarded the deposit via bank transfer and paid the remainder in cash on arrival.

But other than that, we give the experience a 10 out of 10 score

Comment: The reason for visiting Tanzania was for business. However, I did not want to travel that distance and not visit a highlight. The Safari company took care of all the details for an extra 2 days for my trip, at the last moment. I had no worries and made last minute changes when my schedule was altered. I was picked up at the airport easily. The hotel in Arusha was fair – the electricity was a problem and switched off and on, making the automatic switch troublesome. No alcohol was served in the hotel.

Once I got beyond that, my guide was terrific. To be burdened with one person for days and answering to my impulses, he was charming. He knew when to stop. He found new things to look at. He stopped graciously for pictures. He could spot animals easily. The company arranged a lot to see in 3 days – a variety of parks and backgrounds. The game lodges, empty due to the season, were wonderful and comfortable despite the lack of guests.

I would easily recommend the company, the parks, the guide, and the lodges to friends.

Comment: I was extremely pleased with the service I received from this operator.

Mwanaid (tour company associate assigned to me) was very accommodating, patient and personable. She was very punctual and detailed on our arrival. She ensured that we were comfortable and satisfied at every stage of the trip. She went far beyond the call of duty making every effort to make our time not only on the Safari but in Tanzania enjoyable.

Our guide, Partson was very knowledgeable and patient. Both individuals ensured that this was not just a Safari, but a memorable and inspiring experience. I will definately be keeping them in my address book and they will definately be playing a part in any trip I plan to East Africa in the future.

Thanks again Mwanaid and Partson, May you continue to be blessed. Every success in all your endeavours.

Comment: We were very impressed by the attention to detail that was offered in both the planning of the itinerary and then the actual delivery of the safari.

Many options were made available to us throughout the consultation and everything that was promised was delivered during the actual holiday.

We would be very happy to recommend the operator to others, and intend to use the company again if we should visit the area again for another safari holiday.

Comment: As a first time visitor to Kenya and subsequently Maasai Mara I would like to articulate my absolute amazement at the meticulouos planning and perfect arrangements made for both travel and stay for the duration of my visit. I would like to compliment personally Erik who, with his constant updates and efforts, made it possible for me to carry out this Safari. Levis who is based in Nairobi coordinated my travel with utmost care extending the personal touch which at once made me both comfortable and sure about the choice I had made in selecting this company for my travels.

Tobi our driver made an impossibly hard drive very manageable. With the condition that the road is in, it did require a special skill which he showed while negotiating the uneven surface and mud tracks! His enthusiasm and commitment to show us as much as possible never wained. His levels of knowledge when it came to the types of animals and their behaviour patterns was quite amazing.

The trip was both memorable and exciting and having come back I would confidently recommend a safari even to the less adventerous.

Comment: We just returned from our vacation in Tanzania last week. We were a party of 4, including a 9 year old child.

I must say travelling and working around Africa frequently, I was originally a bit sceptic about first to have to deposit half of the safari tour costs in the account of the operator (or any not known safari-tour agency), secondly being used the the highly different standards of accommodation throughout Africa (and the world), where internet descriptions not always correspond to reality, I was also prepared for some surprises regarding the hotels/lodges. But surprises on our trip showed up to be only positive.

First of all - e-mail correspondence with the office when planning the safari was all over pleasant, they were quick to reply and followed up on all questions. On arrival, logistics was all coordinated. We were meet by our driver and safari guide, Apollo, a very pleasant, considerate and friendly man.

The three days safari in the parks was to us a perfect combination, starting out in Tarangire, Manyara and lastly Ngorongoro, we had great game views. Taking into consideration the rainy season, we were prepared for long grass, and fewer animals, but our guide managed to "find" almost "all of them". The lunch was all over a positive experience (especially delicate the first day out of Arusha), the same goes for meals in the lodges. We were also most happy with our choices of lodges, first night we stayed in the Tarangire Sopa Lodge (great location, nice hotel, even though rooms were not fancy, cool pool and good food), and next day the more quiet but very nice Octagon Lodge (wonderful garden, very nice personal cabins and again good food).

We also managed to use this operator and "book" Apollo as driver when returning to Arusha, bringing our guide with us to visit the SOS Save the Children Village. All in all, we were happy with our choice and would recommend them to friends and family! Especially because the great guide we had :)

About Our Reviews

Our reviews are Fully Qualified

We do not take reviews from unqualified sources

Since 1996 we have been working with the best tour operators in Africa. Our unique relationship with those operators ensures only people who have participated in a trip after making an enquiry for it at AfricaGuide.com can leave a review.

The email we send you when you make an enquiry has full instructions for registering a booking and leaving a review - both are free services.

Feel free to read through the reviews for any trip you like the look of.

Trips with no reviews are usually new to AfricaGuide.com but are normally operated by a tour operator who is established here and has gained operator reviews for you to read.

About our trip providers and reviews

Our Trip Providers

We carry out extensive company checks on all our providers, over 20 years we have built strong personal relationships with each of them, which assures you of an unparalleled service, great value and the trip of a lifetime.
We have participated in many of the trips found here (we have a nice job) and make our own independent assessments of the services provided, ensuring they meet with our own high standards.

All the trips are supplied by the end provider of that trip.
You may find the same or similar trips elsewhere, usually these are offered by an agent.
We prefer to give you direct access to the trip provider for reasons outlined below:

  1. Best price.
The price you see here is the direct trip price set by the provider, the same price as purchasing directly with them (which is how it works), there are no added commissions.
This means you are not paying an agents commission and the provider is receiving their fully budgeted trip cost.
(agents can demand discounts from providers as well as adding commissions to the providers trip price)
  2. Easy customisation.
By booking directly with the end provider, making changes is quick and easy.
  3. Fast problem solving.
On the rare occasion that an issue may arise before or during your trip, by dealing directly with the end provider, problem solving is quick and efficient.
  4. Helping Africa help itself.
The most straightforward way to assist the economic opportunities and conditions for local people across Africa, is by direct financial interaction with people in Africa. In a nutshell "Tourism".
This kind of direct tourism gives opportunity to local people.

We limit the number of providers we work with in order to strike a balance between a good choice of trips and to be sure we can honestly recommend the service and validity of each provider.
Because the majority of trips can be customised by the providers, the choice of trip configurations is in the tens of thousands.

Our Reviews

We have 3,000+ reviews for our trips and providers.
All our reviews are fully qualified, we do not take unqualified reviews.
We show all reviews, the good and the critical (very few). Our providers have the ability to respond to reviews and those responses are shown alongside the review.
Acquiring genuine reviews is actually very hard, for our genuine travellers we make this an easy process but many people although satisfied with the service they received do not leave a review.

Many reviews on the internet can be left by an open process with little or no checks.
At best unqualified reviews are worthless, at worst they are misleading. We never take unqualified reviews.

We hope you find a trip to your liking and we are here to assist.

Wishing you happy travels...
